IN the space of a week, the price of Super Bowl tickets has come tumbling down.

With less than a week to go until kickoff in Las Vegas, the cheapest tickets available for the game at Allegiant Stadium have dropped by over $1,000.

The plummet from $8,188 to $7,033 for a ticket to see the San Francisco 49ers against the Kansas City Chiefs was noted in a tweet on Monday.

In response, one fan said, "Everyone in the world wanted to see the Detroit Lions vs Baltimore Ravens.

"Nevertheless the ticket prices are still expensive even with the drop."

A second said, "Nobody paying that much for a chiefs 49ers Super Bowl."

And a third added, "The average fan can't afford it, this is ridiculous."

Another X user responded simply by saying, "No one wanted this matchup."

While prices may have dropped, this year's Super Bowl is still expected to be the most expensive on record as the average cost of a ticket is $9,850, 70% higher than the 2023 game.

The 2020 matchup, which also saw the Chiefs take on the 49ers, was previously the most expensive with an average ticket price of $6,370, according to online marketplace TickPick.

One of the biggest sums paid for tickets so far is a whopping $88,860 for six spots in Section 336 - which comes in at $14,810 a ticket.

A potential reason for this week's price drop could be the fact that despite expecting to be in attendance to watch her boyfriend and Chiefs star Travis Kelce, pop star Taylor Swift will not be performing.

Super Bowl travel chaos as winter storm batters Las Vegas causing flight delays and fears it could affect major arrivals-

Instead, Super Bowl attendees and those watching at home will be entertained by R&B legend Usher and Post Malone.

Taylor went to numerous Chiefs games and appeared at each playoff matchup, which caused a huge buzz around the NFL this season and brought in a new population of fans.

Swifties were especially delighted to see Taylor run onto the field for a post-playoffs game kiss with Travis after the Chiefs advanced to the Super Bowl.

A source close to Taylor told The U.S. Sun that her only interest this coming Sunday is "to support Travis and the Chiefs."

"She is loving the process, coming to the games and seeing Travis happy and enjoying winning and doing great."

The source also said Taylor wants to, "Be in stands, and have a great time with her friends and family.

"She wants the whole experience of the game, to be a fan like she has been doing every time she comes to Travis' games."

Another challenge for football fans who want to attend the Super Bowl this year is hotel prices, which were said to be a minimum of $400 a night before fees, which is 76% higher than last year.

Some fans may also have been deterred by the nasty weather currently battering the West Coast.

Hundreds of flights have been postponed with dozens canceled due to the atmospheric river-fueled storm that has drenched California and Nevada.

The storm has left hundreds of thousands of people without electricity, also causing floods and mudslides throughout California.

Thankfully for the NFL, the weather is expected to clear up before Sunday's Super Bowl.
